Inquest into the Death of Hayley Diamond

Summary

The deceased was 14 years of age who inhaled the fumes of a spray deodorant can. The deceased being affected by the fumes ran up some stairs and fell over and hit her head on staircase wall.

The inquest focused on the involvement of the Department for Community Services and the services available for abusers of substances.

The Coroner found the deceased died on 19 June 2009 as a result of acute cerebral hypoxia arising out of suffocation due to the inhalation of toxic vapour. The manner of death was misadventure.
