Summary:

Phillip Domonic Colombera (Phillip) was 40 years old when he went missing on 29 November 1993. If he were alive in 2026, he would be turning 73 years old. 

In November 1993, Phillip hired a car in Perth, apparently intending to travel on to the Pilbara region to meet an associate. On 29 November 1993 he arrived at the Capricorn Roadhouse in Newman at about 6.30 pm. He purchased some food and a torch, before continuing his journey.

He then continued along the Great Northern Highway, travelling a further 212 kilometres to an area just north of the Auski Roadhouse, approximately 1,400 kilometres north of Perth.

On 2 December 1993, a Main Roads employee located Phillip’s hire car abandoned on an isolated bush track in this area. Phillip was nowhere to be found.

Despite an extensive multi-agency land and air search, Phillip has never been found.

The Coroner was satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that Phillip died on or shortly after 29 November 1993. Although it appears the most likely explanation for Phillip's death is that he died from exposure, the available evidence did not allow the cause of death to be ascertained. No recommendations were made.
