Summary:

Phillip Richard Jones (Phill) was 55 years old when he disappeared in 2019.

He was last seen alive by his twin sister at her home in Dunsborough on 16 December 2019. He was formally reported to WA Police as a missing person on 23 December 2019 after his family had not heard from him for a few days, and the family found a typed note on Phill’s laptop which raised the possibility that Phill had harmed himself.

Despite searches of Phill’s home, dense bushland and a golf course near his home, and extensive enquiries including repeated proof of life checks, and widespread media appeals, the police have been unable to locate Phill, or his remains.

At the conclusion of the inquest, the Coroner indicated she was satisfied on the available evidence that Phill is deceased, beyond reasonable doubt. The Coroner was unable to determine how Phill died, and concluded the cause of death is unascertained. An Open Finding was made as to the manner of death.
